Travelin'

We took Bean to Roseau.  It's a trip of about 30 miles that takes an hour.  In a crowded van.  I was a little worried about it.  She was a real trooper (unlike the fictional troopers of Star Wars fame) and traveled quietly and happily.  She passed out on the way home.  We got a picture the only way we can these days - with the video camera.  The video actually gives you an idea of what the ride is like.  It may even give you motion sickness.  It's still adorable.

Before you ask, no she is not in a car seat, just my lap.  Carseats are not really an option around here, at least not with the public transport system.  She is protected by my lovin' arms and angels.  Lots of prayer goes into it, you know?

Conclusion:  When high-risk activity is the norm, it seems safe, but it's still high-risk.

Roseau with Wonderman

During the break, Wonderman and I took a little trip to Roseau.  It was super fun just wandering around the capital, looking at stuff.  We found a street with my name, so of course we had to take a picture:

But we couldn't see the sign in the picture, so it turned out to simply be a gratuitous picture of me (always a nice addition, right?).  Then we took one of the sign, just to prove the point.

What?  That's not my name, you say?  Oh yeah?  Ask my mom.  Then we'll see who's right.

We also went to the Dominica museum,

which did have one of the funniest signs I've ever seen (so much for objectivity):

Funny that Columbus Day isn't a national holiday here.

When we went to IGA, I fully enjoyed Wonderman's bewilderment and amazement at all the amazing things for sale there.  I also realized that for some reason, the Captain Crunch box is really funny in French:

It's funny to say in French too.  Try it, it will make you giggle.

We ended the day watching a cruise ship literally sail off into the sunset.

Conclusion:  Lovely days are even lovelier when spent with Wonderman.

Not moving

We didn't make it the whole way in one day, due to the stress of packing, cleaning, moving, as well as the naturally exhausting side-effects of being crazy. So, we finally collapsed in Hatch, UT. I told (asked) Wonderman (the lead driver) to just pull over at the next cheap-looking motel we passed. Thus, the random selection of Hatch. It was a great little town where people were friendly and it was cool enough to walk to the diner for breakfast at ten in the morning. Aaah, this is what summer is supposed to feel like.We stayed at a great motel that was simply called Motel as far as I can tell.
It was small, but clean (aside from the one centipede that Wonderman found crawling on the carpet when we first got in the room), and just what we needed - a place to sleep.
